I posted about the first two Volumes' English releases, so I guess I'll continue with Volume 3. This post will be shorter than the previous two, though, and I won't include the list of changes. There really weren't many new ones in this volume, and none were really significant. The first two were long due to the insignificant edits, so I'd like to avoid that this time. Anyway, here are my thoughts.
As far as aesthetics go, I have the same complaints as with the previous two. That is the front and back of the Japanese version's dust jacket are on the cover, and the front cover and flap are on the first and second pages, respectively. I know it seems pointless to bring this up since nearly all English manga is printed in this way, but it just…Read more >
I got my copy of the YenPress translation on Volume 2 today, so I thought I would do what I did with Volume 1 and discuss changes. First I'll talk a little about the book itself. It seems to be of a little better quality than Volume 1. It looks like a bit more effort went into putting it together whereas the first volume (my copy anyway) was sloppy and the alignment was a bit off. The paper and ink quality still isn't very good though. Just as Volume 1, it has no removable cover, and the original inner front cover is added as the first page. Other than that, everything is there that should be, including the color pages and the weapons appendix.
The content and quality of the translation seems to have improved from the first volume. There ar…Read more >

The Volume 1 English release isn't really as bad as I thought it would be. I do have some issues with it though. The first problem I have is there is no removable cover. Instead, the cover of the actual volume looks like the removable cover of the Japanese version, and the original volume cover and the flaps of the removable cover are printed on the first two pages. The entire volume is a bit bigger, and, for some reason, a small portion of the material is cut off at the top, though I'm not sure whether this was intentional or a printing error. It also seems that the quality of the art has been somewhat diminished. It looks closer to how it would appear in the magazine than the Japanese volumes. The black and white colors have been strengt…Read more >
The official English version of Volume 1 of HOTD has been released and my copy is due to arrive at my house within a day or two. I think I should bring up the issue of possible changes in material. Their will no doubt be differences, mostly with names, between the official translations and the scanlations. However, I don't think we should change everything on the wiki to match the official volumes. English publishers tend to "westernize" material to make it easier to understand for the general public and improperly romanize names to make them easier to pronounce. The main characters' names have all already been properly romanized so they shouldn't change, but some of the minor ones likely will. It may be difficult to know what should and s…Read more >
